DRUNKEN BASEBALL (COMPLEX)

TWO vs. TWO

Equipment:

  • A table (or hard surface)
  • 4 Red solo cups
  • A ping pong ball

Rules:

  • Set up the cups on one side of the table in a line of 4 with water in them  (Shown below).
  • Figure out what team will “bat” first. Essentially who will go first.
  • Offence: The players who are “batting” stand on the opposite side of the cups (shown below). They pick who goes first out of the two and attempt to shoot the ping pong ball into the 4 cups. If they miss that is 1 strike! Each player gets 3 strikes. Do not switch until one player gets 3 strikes (explained below)
  • Defense: The other 2 players stand behind the cups (shown below). Anytime the ball hits the rim of a cup and bounces up they can try and catch the ball. If they do so that is 1 out!
  • Cups: The closest cup is “A base hit”, the second cup is a “Two base hit”, the third cup is a “Three base hit”, and the fourth cup is a HOME RUN! (explained more below)
  • General Rules for baseball that apply to this game (for those that do not know baseball):
    • Each team, when they are up to “bat” gets 3 outs. Each “out” consists of 3 strikes. If they get 3 strikes (miss the cup 3 times), they get an out! This is when you switch with your teammate. Anytime there is an out, the strikes get reset. Anytime there is a hit (sunken cup) the strikes reset. Once the team gets 3 outs, switch with the other team.
    • Bases: If you score the ball into the second cup which is a two base hit, you are hypothetically on second base. Which means when you throw your next ball, if you hypothetically get it into the third cup which is a three base hit, you hypothetically make it to home base and score a run (point).
      • Now because you are a two person team, you move the bases like a point system which is different then real baseball. In the scenario above, you technically would also have a player on third base. This is not the case. (Shown below)
      • Once you make it “home” you just reset, no loading the bases. (Shown below)
    • Play 2 innings which basically means play 2 rounds. Which means every team would get 9 outs in total to try and get points.
  • The team with the most runs (points) at the end of the innings (rounds) wins!

Drinking Rules (optional):

  • Every time a player gets a run (point) the 2 players on defense drink.

Here is an example of how the game should be set up!

REMEMBER WHEN YOU SCORE IN A CUP AND GET ON A BASE, YOU HYPOTHETICALLY PUT A “PLAYER” ON THE BASES SO THAT YOU AND YOUR TEAMMATE CAN CONTINUE TO HIT (SHOOT). REMEMBER WHERE ALL YOUR “PLAYERS” ARE SO YOU CAN SCORE POINTS.

The photo below explains a bit more about the bases and how the scoring works!
